Sharp Mind's story

In the Ponyville hospital, there was a part for the patients with mental problems. In one of the rooms, a stallion called Sharp Mind was looking at the door:"I shouldn't be here, I don't deserve to be here." His roommate, a mare called Demo Reel was lying on her bed, when she said:"That's what I said too, but  the ponies in hospital put the opinion of the guy i tied up and trapped in a cave over mine. Can you believe that?"
"Ugh, like YOU would understand."
"That's because you never told me. No wonder they put you in here."
"I wasn't always like this, I used to be a repair-pony, and a pretty good one, I might add. But that joke of a repair-pony called Gear got all the attention that was supposed to go to me."
"That pony with a miscolored tail, a living object as a pet and a few inventions he made?"
"Do you HAVE to rub it in!? Anyway, I had no business for 2 months, so I had to do something big."
"Change your job?"
"Never, I was a repair pony first! I stole all his inventions, put them in his... G-Carriage, I think that's what it's called, and tried to make it fall off a cliff. But that clown and his friends stopped my plan. Luckily, I got away, but that wasn't the end of my troubles..."

Meanwhile, in Ponyville a white pegasus mare with a black mane and glasses called Tease Talk was about to rent an empty room. She was talking to the owner:"Nice business place. Bet I could sell a lot more prank toys here."
"Where were you selling before?"
"I have a stand, but after a few years, I think it's time to get an upgrade."
"Taking a challenge in life, huh? That's good. I could use a change too..."
"That sounded sad. Do you have any problems?"
"I don't wanna talk about it."
"C'mon, how bad could it be?"
"One of my friends is now a criminal, that bad."
Tease Talk thought:"Awkward." and asked:"What did he do?"
"As a repair pony, he had competition, and that made him... make some bad choices."
"Sharp Mind?"
"How did you know?"
"He attacked my friends! Why are you defending him?"
"Because he used to be a nice guy. He was a hard worker and knew how to get along with others. But I guess he WAS a bit arrogant."
"Okay, I'm just gonna go away and prank my brother or something. I need some  cheering up after this."
Tease Talk went away and the owner though:"Something will change, right? Weirder things happened..."

That night, Sharp Mind was pounding on the door of his room:"I can't take it anymore! I'm escaping!", but nothing happened:"I'm an earth pony, shouldn't I be strong enough to break the door?"
Demo Reel said:"The door is made to be extra tough. Why do you think they put the two earth ponies here?"
Sharp Mind tried to break the window, but he couldn't do that either. Demo Reel said:"That's unbreakable glass."
"Oh, Shut up. How do you know this stuff anyway?"
"This isn't the first time I was stuck here."
"I can believe that... Why are you dripping cranberry juice on your sheet?"
"I wanna write my own review of "Pie in the eye 2", but I have no quill or paper. I have to use the sheet and the juice we got with lunch today."
"I really gotta get out of here."
Sharp Mind took his food tray and broke it in half a few times until he got a small piece of flat plastic. He went to his room's bathroom and unscrewed the faucet from the sink. He picked up the faucet and approached the window:"It can't be harder than iron." He hit the window a few times with the faucet and it broke. Sharp Mind jumped through and got away. When the doctors came in to see what was making that noise, Demo Reel said:"My roommate escaped."
Doctors argued:"This is bad, that guy is dangerous."
"We'll put a wanted poster or something, now we gotta find a room for this mare."
"Why?"
"It'll take a while to replace the unbreakable window and she could get out."
Demo Reel said:"Nah, I'm not coming out until I finish this review."

The next day, a few of Tease Talk's friends and her boyfriend Caution were carrying boxes in her soon to be prank toy store.
Caution noticed that Gear was constantly scratching himself:"What's wrong?"
"I carried these dusty boxes for a while and the dust piled up on my skin."
"I can help you with that." Caution's horn glowed and so did Gear. Gear went:"HAHAHAHA..."
When Caution was done, Gear said:"What did you do to me? That really tickled!"
"I levitated all the dust and dirt from you. Your welcome."
"Your water bill's probably not very big."
"Heh, heh... how come Cynquote's not here?"
"About that, Tease Talk pranked him yesterday and the results were harsher than she wanted."
Meanwhile, Cyniquote knocked on Twilight's castle. He had a toilet seat duct taped to him. When Twilight opened, he said:"Princess Twilight, if you have a dungeon in your castle, throw me in, because if you don't, I'll do something horrible to my sister."

Tease Talk was checking up on everybody:"Good job, Sculpture Show. Gear and Caution, what's up?"
Caution said:"I learned Gear is ticklish when it comes to telekinesis. What's up with you."
"Not much. Funny coincidence, the guy I'm renting this room from, he was Sharp Mind's friend."
The two stallions cringed and Caution said:"There is nothing funny about Sharp Mind."
"C'mon, a little humor can always make a situation easier."
"I had trouble with him in both Ponyville AND Appleoosa."
Gear said:"You met Sharp Mind in Appleoosa?"
"Yeah, Cyniquote's girlfriend said she forgot something there, so me and him went to get it. It turned out, Sharp Mind was hiding there. He did his job there until Cyniquote went to him to make sure he got punished for his deeds, and the two of us ended up fighting him and revealing his crimes."
"Okay, but couldn't you just let him live in Appleoosa where he couldn't bother us?"
"I thought so too, but I guess Cyniquote had a point. He was still an escaped criminal."
Tease Talk said:"Speaking of Cyniquote, I wonder what he's up to." Suddenly, a bunch of rotten fruit teleported over Tease Talk and fell on her:"EWWWWW!"
Cyniquote came shortly after with the toilet seat off, picked up a box and started carrying it to the room. He said:"All is forgiven."

Meanwhile, Sharp Mind was running from Ponyville and got some distance. He got into a forest:"I think I can slow down now...wait, are those changelings over there?"
He hid in a nearby bush and spied on them. One had no holes in his legs and was called Switch, the other had his holes arranged in a straight line and was called Symmetry.
Symmetry asked:"I think we should feed on love from wild animals today."
"I'm in a mood for ponies's today."
"Yeah, but we did that yesterday, and wild animals the day before that... I just don't wanna break a pattern."
"I had to recover from a broken leg. I couldn't feed on ponies for quite a while, you know."
"Okay, calm down."
Sharp Mind was still behind the bush, but pretty soon those two changeling jumped on him from behind. Switch said:"You'll have to do better than that if you wanna spy on us!"
Symmetry said:"Yeah, sneakiness is something they teach us when we're kids."
Sharp Mind said:"Go away, I don't feel like fighting you! Besides, I would totally cream you if you didn't surprise me."
Switch mocked him:"I'm sure you would take down a soilder and a soilder in training by yourself if we didn't SURPRISE you."
Sharp Mind mumbled:"Can't believe I'm being made fun by vermin..."
Switch said:"You wanna fight? Or are you scared of being beaten by vermin?"
"No, I don't wanna fight. That would just be pointless!"
"You practically asked me for it!"
Symmetry said:"Maybe we can just let him go. I mean, we can't get love from him and besides, what can one pony even do?"
Switch said:"Beat me in an invasion, or ruin love-feeding. Want more examples!?"
Symmetry said:"I'll be quiet."
Sharp Mind quietly said:"NOW how do I ruin Gear's business?"
Switch said:"Wait, did you say "Gear"?"
"What's it to you?"
"That pony beat me in a fight four times already!"
"Ugh, he has a changeling nemesis? Does he need ANOTHER thing to make him stand out?"
Symmetry said:"You probably shouldn't talk to yourself. That's considered crazy."

Sharp Mind and Switch got curious, so they decided to each tell their side of the story. Switch was first.
"...but that didn't stop me. I still want to get Gear and Caution. Even more that Body Damage and Swarmer."
Symmetry said:"Swarmer's not so bad."
"Everybody says that, but YOU try using a coal powered device in front of her. Her nagging will NEVER stop. Dragonmouth won't hurt the enviroment, Swarmer!"
Symmetry said:"You're going off topic."
Sharp Mind said:"So, you want Gear in the changeling kingdom dungeon. He won't be able to fix appliances THERE."
Symmetry said:"That's an oddly specific thing to say."
Sharp mind told his story.
"... and then they discovered that all the stealing I had to do before I got to Appleoosa made me addicted to it, so they put me with the mental patients. They also said I had a superiority complex, but what do they know? It's my mind, I get to say what's going on there!"
Symmetry said:"Huh, I wish our hospital was that good."
Switch said:"I have an idea. I'll fight Gear, and you two get any friends he brings out of the way. I'll get my victory and Sharp Mind will get his revenge."
Sharp Mind said:"Not a bad plan, but I will need some prep time."

Meanwhile, Cyniquote, Gear and his pet, a living first aid kit were playing on a field near Ponyville. Gear threw a stick:"Fetch!" Kit ran to get it when Cyniquote said:"You know, there's something you should know. Do you remember that repair-pony that got jealous of you?"
"You don't forget somepony that steals all your inventions."
"Well, after we helped my sister mover her stuff, I heard that he escaped from the hospital. If you ask me, we should've thrown him in the dungeon."
"Heh, do you sometimes wish you could rule Equestria?"
"I think everypony does from time to time... I'm digressing, my point is, you should carry some of your gadgets around at all times, who knows when he'll attack?"
"Yeah, good point, I'd hate to lose them again."
Kit brought back the stick and Gear said:"Maybe I can give you a bigger challenge."
Gear took a flashlight with a special diamond inside out of his saddlebag. He put the stick in front of it and turned it on. A beam got shot and made the stick go really far.
Kit ran to get it when Cyniquote said:"Wait, won't he get lost if he runs away that far?"
Gear said:"Gear, you moron!" and ran after Kit.

Sharp Mind and the two changelings got near the Changeling Kingdom. Switch stopped and said:"Stop. We can't bring Sharp Mind in. Other changelings won't react well to him."
Sharp Mind said:"Where am I supposed to go, then?"
Symmetry said:"Come with me, I'm sure I can find you a place with some grass. Ponies eat that, right?"
"Not exactly my favorite food, but fine, if it's the best thing I can get."
They found a place, Sharp Mind lied down and the two changelings got back to the kingdom, wanting to rest a bit.
Sharp Mind thought:"Ugh, this grass is so itchy. Makes me wish for my bed in the hospital... No, here's better, what am I thinking?"

That evening, the three guys gathered back together. Switch said:"OK, we got you a rope, but we couldn't find barb wire or guitar strings in town."
"Hmm... I'm sure you can find them in Ponyville."
"Why us and not you?"
"You said it yourself, all changelings are taught to be sneaky."
Symmetry said:"He's got a point."
Switch hit himself on the head, but said:"Fine, we'll go to Ponyville and get you what you need. I guess it'll be worth it when we take those ponies down."
The two changelings got to Ponyville by the time night came. Switch said:"I'll find barb wire and you find some guitar strings, OK?"
"Got it."
After a while, Symmetry was flying out of Ponyville while holding a guitar string pile and being chased be Octavia.
"Give those back, you hooligan!"
She furiously threw a fiddle bow at him. Symmetry dodged, but the fiddle bow managed to pierce a nearby wall:"WHOA!"
He though:"The fighting guide said that I have to fight earth ponies from a distance because of their strength... if only I knew how to shoot lasers."
"You're not getting away with all my spare strings!"
Symmetry grabbed the strings by one end and whipped the ground in front of Octavia. She started to run away when Symmetry did it over and over. The changeling took the opportunity to get away.
"Mission accomplished. I just hope I didn't damage them."
Meanwhile, Switch was in Caution's house, trying to get barb wire from him. Caution made a barrier around himself and the barb wire.
"You can't have it! I just confiscated it!", Caution said while trying to make distance from him.
Switch tried to pound the barrier. When that didn't work, he put his horn close to it and shot a constant laser. Caution made a bulge on the barrier which hit Switch.
"So, you got better with magic since the last time I saw you. I got bad news for you, so did I."
Switch used telekinesis to bend one of Caution's hooves behind his back:"Aaaah! Stop that!"
"It's hard to use magic when you're in pain, huh?"
Caution shook himself and released his hoof from Switch's magic. Switch said:"You think you're so smart. I have a lot of time, you know!"
Switch used his magic a few more times and wore Caution out enough to get rid of the barrier. Switch got the barb wire as Caution lied on the floor in pain:"Uuuugh..."
Switch considered taking him to the dungeon, but though:"He'll slow me down too much. I'm not a good flyer anyway." and just left.
The two changelings met back together. Switch said:"You got the guitar strings. Were you followed?"
"I'm 80 percent sure no."
"Okay... are you hurt?"
"No, are you?"
"No, let's go back to Sharp Mind."

They got back to Sharp Mind and handed over the barb wire and guitar strings. Switch said:"Whatever you make, it better be good. I'm gonna go to bed now, it's really late."
Symmetry stayed and asked:"What are you gonna make?"
Sharp Mind started to knit the guitar strings into a rope and said:"I learned how to use a lasso in Appleoosa, and then I got creative."
"Great. You know, Switch also has a homemade weapon."
"Ugh, no offense, but your friend is kind of a jerk."
"You just didn't know him long enough. You see, I'm not a very lucky guy. I have OCD, and that makes it hard for me to shapeshift. I tried asking the queen to mind control itout of me, but she said she would only do it if I prove myself as a good soilder."
"Hmpf, I like her already."
"Maybe it just takes a lot of magic, I don't know. Anyway, Switch was assinged to be my teacher, and we bonded. He even gave me some confidence."
"Nice story, but it's gonna take more than some hanging out to lift my mood."
"Well, I'll be here for you, maybe Switch will be too. Judging by what I know about you, you could use a friend. Yaaaaaawn... I gotta go to bed, good night."
Sharp Mind lied down, thought:"I can't have friends, I can't have anything but revenge..." and fell asleep. He began dreaming.

Sharp Mind was in Ponyville walking the street with his friend, Bright Side. Sharp Mind said:"We're near the tennis field, great. I wanna see if I can win 10 times in a row."
"Heh, you're so competitive."
"What can I say, I need some happiness now."
Suddenly, they heard Cyniquote and Fluttershy arguing.
"See, the can says that the spray is harmless, it just makes them go away."
"Oh..."
"Now apologize for yelling at me."
Sharp Mind said:"Eh, they're still having better luck than me."
"What's wrong?"
"I didn't have an order in 2 weeks. It might be the fault of that guy Gear getting all the attention."
"Relax, we all get bad luck sometimes. Just wait a bit and I'm sure you'll get some customers."
"OK, fine. At least it hasn't been 2 months. Now THAT I don't think I could handle, heh."

Next noon, Sharp Mind woke up, thinking:"Did I just have a flashback in a dream? That's weird... Then again, maybe it was just a coincidence."
Switch and Symmerty approached him. Switch said:"C'mon, let's go. The sooner I beat Gear, the better." Switch took a hose shaped device from his saddlebag and blasted fire out of it.
"The dragonmouth works perfectly."
Sharp Mind said:"Whoa!"
"I know, right? From what I heard from Symmetry, fire can be used to destroy barriers."
"Oh, okay. Let's go."
Meanwhile, Gear, Kit, Cyniquote and Tease Talk were at Caution's house. Caution was lying on the bed in pain.
Gear said:"Wait, what happened to you again?"
"Switch broke in last night wanting some barb wire. I tried to protect myself, but I took a few submissions too many."
Gear said:"Ugh, that doesn't sound good... Why can't Switch just leave us alone?"
Cyniquote said:"Speaking of Switch, I bet he's planning something against you. He already lost to you...4 times, I think."
Tease Talk said:"I guess we gotta stand watch in case he comes today."
Cyniquote said:"Okay, then. Gear, Tease Talk, come with me. Kit, you stay with Caution, I know you hold anesthetic gel in yourself."
Tease Talk said:"Who made YOU the leader?"
Caution said:"Eh, it sounds like a good idea."
Tease Talk said:"Ugh, I can't argue with an injured pony."
The three ponies started to leave when Caution stopped Tease Talk:"Wait! Maybe I can still help a little. You see my saddlebag over there? Take it, it's full of safety equipment."
"What do I need that for?"
"Safety equipment saved me once. Maybe it'll do the same to you."
"Fine, I got nothing to lose."

The three ponies got out of Ponyville. They went a little in the changeling kingdom's direction. Cyniquote's prediction came true. The three menaces showed up soon.
Cyniquote said:"Really, Sharp Mind? I though fighting us was bad enough, now you have to team up with this psycho?"
Switch said:"Whoever you are, shut up! He made his choice."
Tease Talk said:"Heh, what makes you think we can't just go to Ponyville and ask somepony for help?"
Sharp Mind said:"Because we'll rampage through Ponyville if you do.", and winked at Switch.
Gear said:"You hurt Caution and that's the last pony you're gonna hurt!"
Symmetry thought:"I wish I had something important or epic to say..."
Switch shot a laser at Gear, but Gear turned to the right and stopped it with his saddlebag. Switch said:"Seriously, what is that thing made of?!"
Cyniquote and Tease Talk flew towards Switch, but Sharp Mind pulled Cyniquote down with an iron lasso and Symmetry flew up and slammed into Tease Talk. After that he repeatedly tried to punch her in the wings. She was flying backwards, saying:"Whoa! Hooves off! Hooves off!" She tried punching him in the face, but he hardly felt it:"Boy, I gotta start working out."

Cyniquote, while still having the iron lasso around his stomach, tried to pull the lasso out of Sharp Mind's mouth, but Sharp Mind pulled too.
"Hnnnng...how are you so strong?"
"My mother is an earth pony. Surprised?"
Sharp Mind managed to pull Cyniquote over to him and punched him. Cyniquote counterattacked by jumping on him and starting to wrestle. Gear tried to blast Switch with his light punch, but Switch shapeshifted his hoof into a spike and jammed it into the ground. The beam did nothing:"I'm not falling for the same trick a second time!"
"I think it's more than a second time."
"Shut up!", Switch said as he tried to take away the light punch with telekinesis. Gear still held on to it:"You're gonna... have to try... better than that.", but that was just a distraction. Switch rushed towards him, pinned him down and started beating on him. Gear threw hiw away, but Switch just flapped his wings and stayed airborne. He took out his dragonmouth and blasted fire downwards, but Gear rolled away and threw a stink bomb a Switch:"Ugh, why can't I just get used to that smell?" Meanwhile, Symmetry was chasing Tease Talk, who was searching through Caution's saddle bag:"There's gotta be something there to get rid of him." She took out a parasol and when Symmetry tried to hit her, she opened the parasol and shielded herself:"Okay, not a bad start... if Caution doesn't mind a hole in his stuff." She found kneepads and put them on her front hooves. She tried to slap Symmetry and it worked:"Let's do this, flyweight." Cyniquote tried flying up, but Sharp Mind was holding on to him:"Don't make me use the barb wire lasso!"
"Go ahead! If you hurt me, we both fall down."
"So you're just gonna keep us up here?"
"Whatever keeps you away from my friend and my sister."

Gear tried to blast Switch, but he flew behind him and shot him with a laser. Gear turned around as Switch tried to hit him with another one, but Gear smacked it away with the light punch:"Heh, you can't destroy steel." Switch decided to tackle Gear, but Gear jumped and landed on him. Unfortunately, Switch threw him off. Tease Talk was still boxing with Symmetry, but he was more experienced. He managed to hit her in her weak spot, the place where the wing connects with the body:"OW!" Tease Talk fell down, but Cyniquote noticed:"How dare you?!" and flew after Symmetry. That meant going lower, so Sharp Mind dropped on the ground. Cyniquote and Symmetry started fighting in the air. Sharp Mind was about to lasso Cyniquote down, but he noticed the fight between Gear and Switch. Gear landed on his back and Switch flew on him. His hooves all stepped on Gear's legs, immobilizing him. He pointed his horn at Gear's head and said:"Let's see if this will work." Sharp Mind yelled:"Wait! I though you were just gonna imprison him!"
"Imprison, kill, they'll both do the job."
"That's going too far!", Sharp Mind said as he rushed toward Switch and pushed him off.
Gear said:"Really?", and Sharp Mind replied:"Gee, do you have THAT low opinion of me?"
The two earth ponies pinned down Switch. Switch struggled, but said:"Why can't I lift two ponies?"
Cyniquote pushed Symmetry down, who though:"What kind of a strategy is that?" Tease Talk grabbed him and made it easy for Cyniquote to land a few blows. The two changelings got tied up in Sharp Mind's iron lasso.

Switch yelled:"Traitor!"
Cyniquote said:"He was good first and THEN turned bad. If anything, he stopped being a traitor."
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, who said anything about me joining your side?"
"You said you didn't wanna kill. If you run away from the law all the time, you eventually WILL be tempted to. Do you really want that?"
Sharp Mind looked at them with a worried expression for a few moments and said:"I'll get locked in the hospital again."
Gear said:"You'll get out early if make an effort."
"How am I gonna get a job? I'm sure most ponies wouldn't trust me."
Tease Talk said:"I'm gonna open a prank toy store soon. I'll hire you once you recover."
"I guess beggers can't be choosers..."
The four ponies went back to Ponyville, planning everything. Tease Talk said:"When we get to Ponyville, let me do the talking."
Cyniquote said:"Why you?"
"Because you would be too strict and Gear would go too easy on him."
Sharp Mind said:"I don't care which one of you does it, I just wanna finish this mess. I can't believe a pony almost died because of me..."
Gear said:"I've been through worse."
Sharp Mind said:"I guess I owe you an apology."
Cyniquote said:"You owe him a lot more than that."
"Fine. I'm sorry and I promise not to sabotage your business again. Ponies wouldn't invite me in, anyway. What else can I do?"
Gear said:"That won't be necessary. I'm just happy we managed to reform a villain today."
Cyniquote said:"Villains... we forgot the changelings!"

Switch and Symmetry were slowly rolling to the changeling Kingdom. Symmetry said:"Look on the bright side. We only have one or two days of rolling until we reach the kingdom, and then somebody will untie us."
"If I could, I'd smack you."
The next week, Caution was sitting on a bench in the park, looking at the notes he made during his safety inspection:"Let's see if I messed something up. Suddenly, Tease Talk approached, tired and breathing heavily:"Uuuuugh... please...make room for me..."
"What were you doing before?"
"Jogging... I can't belive... they say it's... good for you..."
"Go ahead and sit. So, I heard Sharp Mind's a good guy now."
"Yeah, I heard from his friend... that he'll soon check out."
"Are you sure he'll be a good employee. If he causes trouble, remember, the mayor is my boss. I could easily talk to her and..."
"I don't think that will be necessary. But thanks, that was nice of you.", she said and kissed him.
"Heh, you make it pretty easy. By the way, what happened to the changelings?"
"We didn't find them. My guess is that they're back home, planning another attack. I guess they'll get their butt kicked again someday."
"You're being too... nevermind, I'm happy too."
